Do it anyway

Friday, February 12, 2016

I've been really wanting to say this for a while: Do it anyway!
I'm talking jobs, talking passions and talking practicalities.
So what if you work in a job which doesn't reflect who you are and how you want to spend your time? Follow your inspiration in your spare time and if you don't have enough then bally well make time. Make it a priority, make yourself a priority.

Want to do something? Do it! Don't make excuses; don't save it for the 'right' time, or when you're not as busy or when you've practised.
If you're passionate in what you do it will carry you through.

After five years of blogging; taking tens of thousands of photographs and spending hours, days, weeks and probably months writing and composing each piece with thought and care I realise that what I have created for myself is a wonderful compendium of the best things in my life. It's like the most amazing interactive photo album which not only captures sights in time but thoughts too. Sure, I could have dismissed my motivation to record my favourite outfits, places we visited as well as fitness exploits, meals out and all the little things that meant something. But where would I be without having made time for doing what I wanted?
I'd have wondered 'what if?'

In those years my skills have developed, I've learned more about what I want to do more and what pleases me less. My imagination has run riot and run back home again. It's good to explore thoughts, challenge myself and let my mind wander. This blog has let me discover my thread of creativity, I never thought I had a jot before and suddenly, without even realising it, I've found what works for me. I can't tell you how thankful I am for that.

Do it anyway, carry on regardless. Do what drives you and let it in turn propel you forward.

  1. Agreed, although there are usually too many things I want to do at the same time. I let the blog go for a bit to pursue fitness more, but missed it loads so have cut back on the gym. Want to fit in learning another language in somewhere as well but the kids are sucking up a load of time too.

Not sure if my writing or photos have changed much - your photos are great these days though - but it is lovely to read back through old blog posts and be reminded of what I was doing.

  2. Sophie, you have some gravitating power - I swear we have some wild spiritual connection deep rooted. You're reaching out to the girl who travelled to Asia and back with a dream, quit 12 jobs to get to the one she wanted. Rooted her life up, ran away from her troubles and still feels the intense FEAR every single day. But, she did it anyway...

You, dear friend are entirely right. Sometimes you just have to do IT.

  4. Very true - there's no time like the present to pursue what you love doing. I finally got myself some new watercolour paints and have been practising new styles and creating over the past fortnight, it's so relaxing and it's something I'd been putting off for a while. It's good to invest in what you love and do things for yourself. - Tasha
