Free to enjoy the best things

best things in life are free
There are so many things in life that are free. Completely free. No strings. And yet people completely overlook them, shun the best things and instead throw so much time and money at everything else.

Light

Simple, isn't it? The sun returns every day, without fail. What a joy, what a promise. Greet the sun early in the morning. Open the curtains wide, let the light stream in.
In the evening, when the sun goes down, light a candle and leave the curtains open to enjoy the moonlight too.

Fresh air

Indeed. Open your windows. Let the breeze blow through your home. Take a walk outside, sit in your garden or a park. Breathe in the fresh air. Smell the flowers as they blossom. Watch the bees as they hover and bumble from flower to flower.
Listen to the birds and note the difference in songs. Let them wake you up in the early hours with their earnest twitterings. Watch them go about their daily lives.

Small details

Look closer at everything, then closer still. It's amazing how much detail you normally miss. Observe. Be entertained. Learn.

Grow

Take a seed and let it grow. Just the one, or many hundreds. Monitor closely.

Hold hands

Share a hug. Be close to people who matter to you.

They say the best things in life are free. They might just be right.

  1. They are right - love, light, laughter... and the beauties of nature like little ladybirds and the 'lilies of the field'.
I love that bit in the Bible in Luke 12 "Has anyone by fussing before the mirror ever got taller by so much as an inch? If fussing can’t even do that, why fuss at all? Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don’t fuss with their appearance—but have you ever seen colour and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them." summer blessings xx
