Flag Fen

The weekend before last we spent away just outside Peterborough, not all that far away but just for a little weekend break. On the way home I wanted to stop off for a visit to Flag Fen a mighty fine Bronze age site with the remains of a prehistoric causeway. It cost just £3 each to get it which was pretty reasonable and had a really good amount of information and reconstructions as well as some people to chat to. I do like a bit of history to mull over and this made for a rather enjoyable informative visit.
There were reconstructions which were really good. Given a few thick blankets I would have moved in there myself.
Free standing kitchen and dining facilites
Central heating
.
It was a lovely site, loads of space, but sadly not all that many visitors

The fens are flat and marshy, you can see why they would need a causeway

It seems strange that these pictures were taken less than a fortnight ago. Time flies when you’re busy.
