Laughs at Lolly Moor

Lolly Moor had to get a visit based on it's name alone. When researching somewhere new to head to for a trip out I stumbled across this small patch of Norfolk Wildlife Trust land. It's a good thing I double checked how to find it online as when we arrived there was an overgrown gate and such an old sign that it had half it's new message peeling away, reading NATrfolk Wildlife Trus, which only served to confirm we had at least reached the right place. Not a whisper of any further information to be found anywhere.

There were some lovely flowers growing by the gate which on first inspection to be the only sign of colour (although I did find a few more as we went around). A vaguely trodden track headed around the perimeter of what appeared to be a small field surrounded by trees which we followed, although Chris did have to trample down a small patch of nettles along the trail in a gentlemanly fashion to save my bare legs.

The path then veered off into the trees and that's when it got really sticky underfoot. It was a blazing hot day and there was not a cloud in the sky so the light beamed down, making it really bright even though the canopy was pretty thick. It felt like we had entered a jungle or something, quite a strange feeling! The river or stream meandered along the perimeter and the path looped back around to the field.

Along the way I saw a moth-eaten butterfly which made for an interesting choice of picture as well as the huge pylon and electricity cables running overhead. There were also plenty of dog paw prints even though I'm sure on the website it said no dogs, but as there were no signs on site I daresay nobody knows.

I'm wearing a new summery dress and hat, both from Joe Browns. I love the easy fit of the dress, it doesn't hug too tight round my middle which allows some room to feel comfortable so will go on my 'eating out appropriate' list. The bodice stitching adds an almost structured look but it's far from it! It's not often I wear red but I would pop this on the raspberry pink end of the scale and the print just won me over. The pockets have the sweet polka dot ties which match the waist tie at the back.

A highly safe length too so I can wear it out safe in the knowledge my backside is covered at the same time as not being too low cut, I simply never wear low cut. The hat is super fun, I've never really had a straw hat and this one is wonderfully bright and cheerful so I'm making it my mission to wear it plenty this summer. Hats off to that!

Thanks to Joe Browns for sending me the dress and hat to review. All opinions my own.
