I packed my bag and in it I put...
What a game. I thought I'd play a little game to show you what I'll be packing for my summer holiday when I ever get round to booking it. Things haven't panned out this year holiday wise and I'd put the blame entirely at my door as per. Usually we head to somewhere undulating in the UK in the spring but this year I've felt overwhelmed with trying to get my head around planning anything, especially as we decided to head abroad this year (not sorted out those passports and low and behold there is a backlog) so nothing has materialised as yet. What with work worries, the summer price hike, prior commitments and the dog who needs to be booked in somewhere I've pretty much abandoned hopes of anything for the foreseeable.
However, one thing I am already organised with is my summer holiday wardrobe; I feel pretty chuffed with myself on this one single point, small victory as it is. In a fit of uncharacteristic practicality I've amassed a few new pieces to add to some old favourites for my capsule holiday wardrobe. Oh, I have noticed how 75% of my clothes are bold prints, it hasn't escaped my attention, so you may need to wear sunglasses to look at the pictures, sorry!

I've packed my bag and in it I've put:
Maxi dresses, mini dresses, a frilly mini skirt, printed shorts and denim shorts, vest and tee tops, a cotton puffed sleeve top, a dressy-dress in case we head out somewhere posh for dinner, my straw hat* (Joe Browns), floral headband (Primark), those orange wedges* (Clarks), a random assortment of jewellery and make up, sunblock and sunglasses plus of course a bikini or two. No holiday suitcase is complete without swimwear and I adore this animal print bikini* from George at Asda

I have a love/hate relationship with bikinis as much as I love to tan my skin safely (as safe as possible with plenty of high factor sun cream) I also loath to have too much chest on open display as that's not the kind of girl I am. However, this bikini top offers a generous coverage with neat removable straps and padded cups which ticks all the boxes in my book and will allow me to feel comfortable on the beach. Phew. Could the print be any more me? Neon and animal print. Hell yea. I always double knot the ties, just in case!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed we get a good heat wave so I can head to the local coastline to enjoy a holiday-style afternoon soon. Much as I like the idea of getting far away there is plenty to enjoy on home soil.
What's in your getaway bag?
