Amber warning

Tuesday, December 10, 2019

I don't know about you but the last few weeks have been such a headache, all over social media people are sounding off about politics. I've muted as many words or names as I can yet still many politically charged posts make it through to my timeline and I've had enough of it. I've had enough of how divisive the whole subject is, I'm sick of hate spreading, finger pointing, slander and disruption. The politicians themselves are almost without exception absolutely loathsome - hungry for power, career driven beasts who will do or say anything for the spotlight and I quite honestly wouldn't trust a single one of them, most of them think it's a game with their staged speeches, jeering and posturing. But in the same breath, thank goodness they have put themselves up for the task. Surely, anyone with a grasp on the stakes, the down to earth human stakes would run a mile from the task of somehow having to look into a pot with a several trillion deficit and have to slap on a stoic smile to tell everyone that things are all going to be alright. Our country is utterly beyond all help and there is no way, no way, that any party can convince me otherwise or how they can fix our broken Nation. Broken on so many levels; it's future policies on environment, our societies, laws, morals, standards - let alone the economy and our relationship with the rest of the world.
I've always voted and always will but faced with the choices we have in 2019 I don't think anyone can be blamed for despondency. Voting against one line instead of voting for anything. I'm worried about the outcome, the repercussions of the outcome and just generally the future as a whole.

So I'm sorry if you came here to get away from politics only to hear me rant on about how I cannot escape politics. I'll keep posting here but I just can't take the onslaught on social media so I might just slip away off that for the foreseeable. Or just post and not check back because it's too much.

I'll leave you with this last capture of an oak leaf falling.
Take care,
Sophie
