Boom bang-a-bang

Jpeg

Remember, remember the fifth of November; Gunpowder, treason and plot.

On Friday evening we went to our absolute favourite fireworks display in Long Melford. I've been many times over the years and it never disappoints, with this year's being no exception. They always make an enormous bonfire:piling old pallets up and giving them a good dousing. The fire takes hold swiftly and soon roars away, burning bright and flooding the field with light. The heat of the inferno is incredible and we usually have to move back to avoid roasting like potatoes in their jackets.

The fireworks start half an hour after the bonfire is lit, which has burned right down to just a small pile. Each year the display has a theme and this year's was 'Best of British', but quite honestly they are so vague you would never guess anyway. I gasp in excitement each year at how they find new fireworks and get them to do such pretty things. My teeth get quite a chill from all my grinning, I'm like a child!

All that was missing was a toffee apple , a bag of candyfloss plus a couple of sparklers.. Sadly, sparklers are now deemed too dangerous to be brought along. Happy November 5th!
