Walking around Usk reservoir

Finding Usk reservoir was a long winded process! The signage was pretty terrible and we wondered whether we would ever find it. A humble, no frills parking area was all there was to show we had arrived - thankfully no pay and display machines. We set off across the dam, heading around the reservoir in an anticlockwise direction.

It was a rather grey and drizzly day. The kind of day when it's coat on/coat off in an irritatingly warm but damp fashion.

I found some wonderful wild scabious flowers with some insects buzzing around.

A few little clover flowers. Mmmm

I found a little remaining colour on the heather. I've no idea when the heather flowered but I have almost completely missed the bloom.

All in all, the walk was around 8km but was really easygoing. I imagine that the landscape looks dramatically different in all seasons; we walked round on the cusp of autumn but the leaves would be looking splendid in tones of gold by now.
