My summer plans

While I'm fully aware that our 'summer' may have been and gone in terms of hot weather, the fact remains that the season plays out until September so for those purposes I thought I'd put together a few ideas of what we might get up to over the next few months.
This collection of pictures is from last night at the allotment, shot on my phone. The plants have burst into life over the last few days which is great to see!

Plans for summer don't include an awful lot of new ideas because summer is my favourite season and provides a gentle ride of happiness that doesn't call for additional activities to prop me up. Just sitting down outside gives me plenty of joy, more so amongst flowers. However, here's a little list of things I hope will also feature.

  • Cut flowers and fill the house with colour and joy, especially to keep a little posy on my bedside table.
  • Harvest our fruit and vegetables to eat or give away to family.
  • Sow seeds for next year's biennials if needed.
  • Enjoy dining al fresco; to include more barbeques, picnics and generally taking food outside to eat.
  • Make jams with surplus soft fruit
  • Go to Latitude festival
  • Go to the beach
  • Make time to chill out, read and be still amongst all the chaos

Above, we put in new rose plants along the hedgeline and I'm thrilled to see one in flower already!

Take care and have an amazing summer.
