Blend in and stand out

how to wear a lime green dress
Lime green, a colour that my eleven year old self thought was possibly the best colour in the world when it came to clothing. Back in the nineties everything had a stint at being mega trendy and for a brief while, lime green was my lusted after shade. Needless to say my parents did not permit me to fill my wardrobe with hi-vis attire, in fact much of it was black or white at that point from recollection.

On one of those Asos sale trawls a couple of years ago (come on, we've all been there) I came across this dress going cheap and for some reason made a choice to buy. It was al about the collar really; it reminds me of a monarch butterfly.

Funny how this bold shade of green more or less blends in to the surroundings while in the countryside but it's so out of place elsewhere. C commented how useful it had been while trying to locate me in Homebase. One of my loathings in life, stores so enormous you cannot find the person you came in with and there's no phone signal to call them and wail that you can't find them. Such a waste of time looking up and down aisles with a clenched jaw when virtually all the men are wearing a uniform of jeans with grey, navy, or  black tops. It's like a frustrating game of Where's Wally while laden with a basket.

Apparently lime green is both the way to blend in and stand out. Who knew?
