I wasn't ready for November.
I've not yet got comfortable with autumn so far; it's either baltic or somehow warm so whatever I'm wearing is wrong. From numb fingers and goosey neck to just stifling trapped in a long sleeved roll-neck it's all been uncomfortable to date. I'm grumpy about the inflicted onset of heavy weather and dark days not to mention autumn.
This tunic from Zara hangs in my wardrobe all year round taunting me. I wear it once annually as a top which I have to disguise it's mass of length yet as a dress it's far too thin and short. Yet I cannot part with it, no matter how often I can't wear it.
A brief interjection of light - it made me beam with pleasure.

Back to the usual dull.
I had a scare with my thumb ring on public transport a while ago. I'd been wearing it all day then realised it wasn't present and had a panic. Looking on my lap, under my seat, on the floor..but nothing. From recollection I found the ring in the ground years ago and liked the weird owl face. It wasn't of value as far as I knew, likely worthless but it is one I've worn countless times as I love it. My heart braced itself not to be too upset, these things do happen and shouldn't be dwelled on.
It was several days later I found it in my handbag where I presume it fell off while I was digging around for something else. The elation to realise it was still with me!!! Irrational, I know.

Phew, we got to wave goodbye to something of an ugly January over the weekend and now I have to say I'm glad we're marching toward spring with a vengeance. There is precious little I relish about the early months of the year, barring a sharp frost and a proper-good snow day and frankly with the wussy attempts at winter we get these days they don't happen all that often.

It's a slightly different post from me today, three ways to wear jeans. It's a reluctant truth that we're all somewhat short on the reddies after Christmas so buys tend to be few and far between. I'm a big fan of mixing things up and wearing clothes over and over and over again in new ways; there hasn't been enough of that lately but I assure you I wear things a lot more than once!

Can you believe I've never worn ripped jeans before? I was so chuffed when New Look challenged me to style up denim three ways; casual, smart and that funny middle ground. I chose these Parisian pale blue knee rip skinny jeans which absolutely fulfil all my distressed denim dreams, they're lovely and comfortable too.

For my smart look I wore them with my high-neck blouse which is one of those items I was so unsure about to start with but after I wore it once, I fell in love with it (Vero Moda) plus this burgundy blazer style jacket (charity shop find,originally M&S). I had my first totter in these high stilettos, a great charity shop find, they're Carvela suede... Vintage necklace from my Grandmother to finish and ta-dah! Once Smart outfit with ripped jeans, oh yes.

I knew exactly what I wanted to wear for my casual look. It's very nineties! My black leather biker boots were an obvious choice, they toughen up every look and work perfectly. One black tight tee, worn as a cropped top, with my longline checked shirt plus leather jacket. I couldn't resist this choker alongside this feather necklace from Iced Rainbow which contrasts well against my top.

I'm known to over-dress on pretty much every occasion so this is perhaps the smarter side of the middle ground; buckled boots from TK Maxx (you can't beat a low heel for both added height and a comfortable wear), feather shirt from Kezzie and beautiful tank from Alice – they were meant to be worn together!

Jeans shopping. The two words that give a girl that sinking feeling regardless of body confidence. There is something about trying to find a pair of jeans to fit right that is at best a headache and at worst heartbreaking.
We've all been there, haven't we? (Patronising tone). I put myself into the category of 'happy with my figure and think I'm a pretty regular shape' so it shouldn't be that hard to find a pair to fit, but oh no, not the case. 
It's incredible the variation in fits and cuts of jeans out there; admittedly that is to cater for everyone but good grief it all feels rather uphill to find that pair that fit just right. I've tried on some (in my size) that hardly squash my thighs in yet have a gaping waist, ones that think I have half again larger hips but not a hope in hell of getting the button done up. Ones that are hilariously short and hilariously long, some that fall off of their own accord and some that need a second pair of hands to wrestle them off.

The moral of the story is that it's not you - it's the jeans.


I have long since given up going shopping for jeans, I always keep an eye out for good jeans in charity shops (you know me!). I don't bother with anything that doesn't either look new or has a poor/unheard of brand name. I need hard wearing jeans as once I find a pair that fit I want to wear them for years on end before they die a death on me. Sadly my once large collection of jeans has been looking depleted recently as pairs have given up the ghost which I was only pondering last week when most conveniently House of Fraser offered to send me a pair of skinny jeans. They have a vast collection, which is easy to peruse online as the pictures give a great visual image of the shape and fit which takes much of the guesswork out of shopping.

My chosen pair are these Mango skinny Olivia jeans which are my kind of fit, like a glove. They have a brilliant amount of stretch to them which renders them marvellously comfortable to wear and one of those items which I'll reach for time and time again when in doubt of what to wear, knowing they will make me feel great plus will go with just about everything.

Worn here with a random old vest top and a pair of shoes I meant to get rid of but can't quite bear to let go.
