The sleeves are most particular and add to the shape of the dress; it makes my shoulders appear wider and by default my waist looks narrower. The cut and fit is so comfortable, really a high quality piece and one I'm happy to keep in my wardrobe all summer  long.


Summer is not complete without sunglasses, ankle boots and a little bag. I'm so glad things are changing.

I'm a definite fan of red these days, it's a colour which is so bright, bold and cheerful plus it seems to be a bold neutral which goes with most other colours too. Do you embrace red, or shy away?

One candyfloss pink jumper, a garden full of flowers cool temperatures and a little bit of skipping around with glee; that's the main ingredients featured in today's post.

What made you buy a jumper that colour, Sophie? Well you know that I do love a warm jumper to keep me happy. This one presented itself to me at a moment which must surely be described as vulnerable and of course I must have succumbed to whispers of cosy days and promises of snuggly evenings. This particular knit is roomy and yet just small enough to tuck in to my favourite skirt for a different look. Perhaps a little childish, only emphasised by the colour.

My favourite skirt is in some ways a frustration as it looks lumpy with a large jumper on top; the waist bow makes it look a little like I'm smuggling something around (food, knowing me) so the silhouette is far from flattering. But all is forgiven as I adore everything else about it from the buttons down the front to the lace to the hem of the under skirt which I replaced earlier in the year.

These pictures date back to September (hence the flowers and leaves) but seem more appropriate to show you now, when it's getting chilly. There is something wonderful about exploring a pretty garden, it makes me very happy.

Something a little different from me today. It all started with the tights (I'll tell you more about these later). The day was much milder than others lately which took me by surprise as I thought I'd need to dress warmly for a trip into town. I didn't know what to wear, despite my wardrobe being full of clothes, it's always the way. Too much choice I suppose. Black tights it was; then a dress? I found one that I haven't worn for ages but I couldn't get the zip done up so that was a no-no. I didn't really fancy any of the others but I did spy this top which I've been 'saving' (that daft thing when you avoid wearing something because it's too nice) and decided that it would be a good day for this. I was about to wear denim shorts but this faux leather pair sort quite literally fell into my hands while trying to find a vest top and I knew they would be perfect.
From now on in gents you might just want to look at the pictures save I bore you with 'girl talk' about tights.
Putting tights on gives me the fear because I've ruined at least three new pairs just putting them on either by snagging them on a nail (I'm not the best with manicures) or by hoisting too hard and ripping the waistband. Bah! So on this occasion I was careful. The first thing to say is that they fit perfectly, like they were made especially just for me. I didn't know whether to plump for a high or low waistband; the high waistband on these is so comfortable. I'm going high next time too. The band reaches my waist exactly and sits there without any encouragement. This has never happened before and took me by surprise. The band is strong and thick but with no bulk; it's and stitched onto the legs of the tights so there is a join but it's unnoticeable. So the band itself is smooth and doesn't twist round. There are none of those annoying thick stitch bands to the very tops of the leg which sometimes end up on show if you wear short shorts (and looks odd), it's consistent the whole way up to the waistband. I didn't realise there were seams at the toes until I had a look. I couldn't feel them at all and you can't see them when you wear them.
The fabric of the tights themselves is wonderfully stretchy but firm. Zero saggy, baggy, Nora Batty moments. I was impressed and have to concur that these most definitely live up to their claims of being revolutionary tights! Of course, they do cost more than your average pair of off-the-shelf tights. At £22 these are the most expensive tights I've ever worn but I have to quantify that these, to me, are absolutely worth the price tag. The range starts at £19 for the low waistband sheer 30 tights.
I'm just sad that every other pair of tights I wear over winter is going to compare so unfavourably now!

Red. It's a colour I like to dabble with once in a while. We flirt, we hang out, we find ourselves together more and more often. Then red suddenly takes a disliking to me, it doesn't want to be seen with me in public and shuns me for a while. How sad it is that red just wont settle down as my trusty companion for good.

I found this wonderful tunic dress; it looks really red and bold up close but according to these pictures the colours are all merge into something resembling a slightly ruddier shade of nude from a distance. I guess it pays to stay at close proximity. The pattern is small, busy and really rather wonderful and ought to be admired. Now, I can't decide what my favourite thing about this tunic is, there are a number of delightful features.

The banding to the top of the sleeves to match the banding under the bust is such a cool feature which adds a whole lot of character. I love it. Do I have anything else in my wardrobe like it.... no, I don't think so. Plus the sleeves billow out a little towards the cuffs and they add a pinch of drama; they warrant a good amount of arm swishing to make best use of the generous fabric.

My preference for conservative dressing (which to be fair does seem to be limited to covering my chest) was challenged with this low-swept neckline but it does sit comfortably so I'll live with it and enjoy the change. Impressively, the fabric is so stretchy it's most amusing. It will ping right back which makes it a particularly serviceable material for a clumsy clot like me.
