Look carefully; can you see the barn owl swooping past in the above shot? The majestic beast was hunting over the fields in the most memorising manner. You can just about make out the shape of the hunter below too. Sadly, without much light or an enormously powerful lens getting a good picture was never going to happen.


Keep looking for the best things in winter, I'm trying to embrace the season to the fullest.

Cold winter mornings. Bright sunlight beaming in rays and sweeping across the horizon. Grass crusted so hard with intricate crystals of ice that crunches and crumbles when you set foot across it.
The way the pearly white sheen suddenly brings life and beauty to the mundane.
 Fingertips numb and noses all red, cheeks a-flush. Breath billowing with every word spoken. An involuntary tear shed with the cold wind. Runny noses. Mittens, or thick gloves. Scarf up to your chin.

There is so much to say about this day. On perhaps the coldest day of the winter so far when the heavy frost stayed put all day with the sun doing little to melt the coldest of hearts we went out walking by the river and saw the prettiest frozen world. It stretched far beyond the bounds of my imagination and expectations with my eyes feasting in each delight from the rolling landscape to each tiny iced frond on a plant.

My hands, feet and face grew increasingly numb but it was worth it in riches; the wonder of nature being able to produce such a vision. The mist never cleared fully which gave an eeriness off in the distance, more pictures to share with you another time.

I really hope these images make you feel something too.

We've had some jolly cold mornings recently; Jack Frost has been out and about decorating everything in a beautiful icy crust and leaving it to glitter in the first rays of sunshine. I'm a firm believer in finding joy in nature so to me, this spectacle is without doubt something magic. Sparkling grass and dazzling leaves are simply awe-inspiring. You really don't need to travel anywhere to see something special, just take a closer look at what's around you.
