Walking from Hawes to Hardraw Force in he Yorkshire Dales was #10 in our book Crimson Short Walks for the Yorkshire Dales which covers 4.25 miles. We parked as suggested in the Dales Countryside Museum car park for the recommended 2 hour slot - the have toilets which is perfect if you're out walking for the day. We (again) didn't have to navigate around any fields with cows although did see one. There were a few sheepy fields but nothing remotely problematic. There were a couple of stretches on the road which had a moderate flow of traffic so exercise caution when leaving fields.
Confession: our book told us to cross about 15 small fields and I instead decided to walk down a little lane which was much easier and never put us bovine risk. We reconvened at the point of turning down the footpath at the Simonstone Hall Hotel (footpath and entrance for walkers). The gardens I expect will be lovely in the growing season.
Admittedly the Hardraw Force waterfalls were only available via the Green Dragon Inn which was closed late afternoon so we didn't get to visit the falls although deja vu insists that we have been here before.
Views were lovely and the causeys (paved footpaths through fields) were a real help in not getting our feet muddy.
This was a lovely wander after our waterfall walk at Askrigg .
Take care,
Sophie
