I'm a girl in love with the countryside, it's where I belong. It's my home.

The golden fields of wheat are now being harvested at a rate of knots, the last few remain and I'm making the most of every remaining crop I catch sight of. The bushy ears are reluctantly giving way to the shorn stubble ready for ploughing and another facelift which is sad in a way, I'm not ready to wave goodbye to summer just yet...

I'm always confused when people wear the most boring clothes while out and about in the countryside. There is no need! You can dress exactly how you want, there are no rules. I'm a believer in dressing yourself happy; a flowing skirt or a pretty dress can completely change your mood (and it beats wearing shapeless trousers any day of the week). I'm a country girl and I shall dress as I please. My latest discovery is the most exciting brand for me (ever) Country Attire who specialise in fabulous clothing for the countryside. Both practical and gorgeously chic clothing, a great range of stock to suit a whole host of budgets. I'm impressed! So many high quality names I'm familiar with and a few new introductions to boot. I'm lusting after most of the pieces they have for the new season. I can't stop thinking about the new pieces in for Autumn it's got my mind whirring for some wonderful new outfits for the cooler days.

Today I chose a pleated midi skirt and a loose cotton top along with the most amazingly high quality shoes I have ever worn (or ever been allowed to touch come to that). These Grenson Joanie tan leather brogues are perfect for wearing with skirts or shorts and come Autumn, I'm thinking a pair of jeans and/or smart trousers with a neat turn-up and a chunky knit jumper or long socks and a pinafore.

How dreamy is this perfect cross body bag from Joules? It's going to be a staple on my days out; a good size without being too chunky, I can fit all my must-haves in plus a couple of extras and wear it comfortably, you can't beat a crossover bag for comfort and practicality when you have a few things to carry with you. The quality is really high so I'm happily looking forward to using it for years to come!

I'm not known for following trends to the letter; in fact I tend to just wear either whatever takes my fancy that morning or what, in desperation, I fling on in a hurry just to wear something. Having settled on an outfit that was congenially referred to as being 'dressed as a salmon' I was all set to leave the house when Chris pointed out that the skirt was see through (and being an ill-prepared young lady I do not have a petticoat to wear underneath). My second choice skirt was this trusty monochrome polka dot one which has grown on me no end since I took a charity shop punt on it some time back.

Who even says 'young lady'? It's a strange phrase, mostly used on me by men who probably have no idea what age I am and don't want to risk a slightly flirtatious 'darling' or 'love' in case I'm under age. Or my Dad, who just cannot seem to remember that I'm not a child anymore.

Despite my on-going efforts to work on getting that flat stomach and washboard abs (dream on Soph) they have hardly seen the light of day this summer. I guess crop tops haven't snuck into my wardrobe in the way that I might have imagined. This cropped jumper and modest skirt combination is so tame I could wear it anywhere without it looking too revealing – maybe this is my style for the future? Not just yet, I have fun plans for my Autumn/Winter style, haha.

I took my new mint crossover bag from local boutique Aluna J out for it's first spin, what do you think? A couple of weeks ago I popped along to have a snoop around the new place in Norwich (hoping to share more about this very soon, the store is beautiful!) and treated myself to this beauty. You've probably noticed that I'm often spotted with a little crossover bag when out in the countryside as it's really practical especially when carrying the camera around too. The colour is simply gorgeous and I know that it's going to get loads of use; I've been so happy with my red bag from Aluna J that I knew I had to make this mini bag mine!

My obsession with floral crowns has been oh-so-apparent the last few months and I have a few ideas in mind for what I'm going to do come Autumn *shudders, let's not mention that again for a while*. It will mean getting creative so watch this space, but not too closely!

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you will know just how attached I am to the fields cereal crops; it's surprising in a way that they haven't featured significantly more over here but that's just the way it's panned out. This green polka dot dress was a find from our blogger's holiday to Norbury last March and has only been worn a couple of times so far as in my mind it's not quite as nice as it is when it's worn. The frills concern me; they do look a bit over fussy but looking at these pictures they look pretty, with the best feature of the dress being the way the high neckline buttons up to the top. My style is most definitely top covered, legs out, though this dress is a most conservative length which does make it practical for a variety of activities, on this occasion walking around the arable fields during the golden hour. My floral crown is perfect for wearing alongside this dress, the colours are spot on to match.

The gorgeous evening light has made my make up look far better than it deserves to, it's not much different to usual; I only vary the lip colours but recently I have been popping on a bit of eyeliner in the form of a rather blunt black pencil (the proper kind naturally, not one from a pencilcase – I'm not that bad). I'd love to be able to wear liquid eyeliner with flicks but efforts to date have been horrific, please tell me I'm not the only lost cause at this?!

The hours are numbered for my beloved golden fields as they will be harvesting as soon as the conditions are right. They represent one of the highlights of the Norfolk summer countryside for me and I'll be sad to see them all vanish again.
