A visit to the Broads
Tuesday, September 03, 2013
Strange as it may sound, I’ve not actually ventured as far East as the Norfolk Broads before. I’ve always seemed to think it was a longer journey away than it actually was. To be honest I was taken aback at just how many boats there were and the style of them. In my head I imagined the odd canal boat would drift past and that would be about all.
As it was a beautifully warm day I couldn’t resist an ice-cream, which had to be a double (greedy!) one caramel, one strawberry cheesecake, for the record it was divine. I actually didn't realise that the shot below had my camera strap mid-shot, I thought it was a shadow! So annoying as it would have been a lovely shot otherwise (d'oh!)

I have always heard good gthings about the Broads, but have never been to Norfolk. Loving the new layout by the way!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos Sophie! x
ReplyDeleteHaha I thought the one with the birds on water was snow on first glance! Soon... Lovely pics, the ice cream looks fab! :)
ReplyDeleteNothing nicer than being by the water... except maybe being on it!
ReplyDeleteYou can do a nice walk along the river at How Hill, Ludham. It's all run by an environmental charity, it used to be a private house. Through the gardens you come to the river and can walk along it for quite a way (if I remember correctly - not done it in ages)
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame that in lots of villages the houses are built alongside the river and you don't get to walk beside it for very far.
Nice walks at Ranworth Broad (can go up the church tower if you have a head for heights!), Salhouse Broad and Wheatfen, where Ted Ellis nature reserve is. Some lovely bits of water to sit by if you are of a mind, and a few reasonable 'watering holes' around too!!
ReplyDeleteNever been to the Norfolk broads but it looks lovely. Double ice cream..yum! Lovely photos x
ReplyDeleteLucky enough to have a sailing boat on the broads so lucky enough to spend a lot of time there. There is a very unique atmosphere that I love.
ReplyDeleteI love to hear your comments xx
