A wet week of changeable weather, winds and the odd unexpected sunshine. I'm not a fan of flux so I wish it would just make it's mind up and settle down. One rainy day C decided we ought to go out despite the drizzle after he'd earmarked a path to try. Funnily enough it's fairly close by to us yet not somewhere we had noticed before. Hidden footpath sign tucked along a tiny lane; it was only by chance that when driving by the week before we had spotted walkers emerging from a hedge and sought to investigate.
Lo and behold a short circuit was possible- ideal for a bit of fresh air under a low slung grey cloud. I didn't take my camera but did whip my phone out for a few snaps as it felt so nice to see somewhere new!
Due to the constant threat of rain we didn't pass another soul. It was fantastic to have the scene to ourselves, aside from a sleeping deer whom we disturbed. It bounced off into the field.


Unexpected view! Norfolk can be difficult to find a long view from as it feels flat but sometimes you get a lovely surprise of a longer landscape.

The lure of paths into the trees! Of course we didn't enter as there were no signs but goodness, they looked enticing.
Oh bluebells, what a treat. They truly lifted my spirits, especially as we cannot go to see our usual favourite spots.


 Strange to see aquilegia on the verge. I suspect it was planted as opposed to naturally growing!

The landscape hew of bold yellow has ebbed back and the tide has turned. It's always a fantastic sight in Norfolk and I feel lucky I'm a witness to such a spectacle. Here's just a few pictures I snapped. Mainly because I didn't happen to really find myself (and more importantly my camera) in the right place at the right time. It was beautiful while it lasted and the scent on the breeze whisked me back to childhood.


Let's do it all again next year.

The oil seed rape is now in bloom round our neck of the woods. The landscape is a patchwork of yellows, greens and brown but thank goodness for this heavenly sunshine shade! Some say the smell is ghastly but for me it's a-ok, bringing back childhood memories. No hayfever here. Here's a few pictures of the beautiful crop at sunset last night...

Bare arms! How refreshing it is to shun a jumper once again. My wardrobe is in flux; with my excitement to delve back into forgotten favourites of summer yet adamant refusal to part with thermal tights any time soon. It's dipping back into frosty nights this week - I'd be unwise to ditch the vests and cosy knits just yet.

However, wildflowers are out in the countryside so its a-ok to wear flowers in my hair. Is there anything more cheerful? I doubt it. Maybe one day I'll try real ones although my concern is that my barnet will become the main (or mane) attraction for the local population of insects to aim for.
My tee collection is minimal but those which have made it in to the higher echelon of wearability get worn a fair amount, though don't often make it on to the blog. My bad!
In most posts I don't make special mention of where items of my outfits come from as the vast majority are second hand, from charity shops or ebay and so are generally no longer available at all. Anything new or gifted is mentioned and linked so you can source it yourself should you wish. Everything is old today. Favourites for the win.
Things I want to do this summer include being happier, wearing clothes to make me happy, growing lots of flowers to make me (and maybe others too with any luck) happy. No saving clothes for a 'special occasion' which never materialises. Every day is special.

It's that glorious time of year again when the landscape in Norfolk is a patchwork of greens, browns and luminous yellow. The scent, the scent, one which brings forth sweet memories of childhood for me. A strong fragrance nevertheless which can send suffers of hayfever into a spiral of doom but I just breathe it in and enjoy.

How I've missed all the colours that nature treats us to over spring and summer. The bright yellow fields of oil seed rape in full bloom are utterly incredible, I can't get enough of their sunshine glow. I've seen a few bloggers a-frolicking in the fields in their posts and I feel like nosily enquiring whether they realise the pollen is a bitch to get off. A few years ago we were rambling along footpaths and had to follow a narrow track through an oil seed rape field which was at least hip height, if not shoulder (I'm sure farmers used to grow a taller variety? Someone advise me) and the pollen got everywhere! It was a jolly good thing I'm not a sufferer of hayfever! A friend who had it really bad would pretty much dissolve within eyeshot of a field of the stuff which is a bit of an issue in our part of the world in spring. Personally, I love the thick, overpowering smell of the flowers. It brings back memories of riding down the lanes on horseback when I didn't have a care in the world. Good times.

This smock dress is one I've had a while and would probably get worn more often if it were a few inches longer. I've worn it before with leggings, jeans and shorts underneath but I don't really like that, so throwing caution (and a flimsy hem) to the wind I went out with bare legs. My style isn't complete without a pair of boots; I've settled on these strappy, buckled, cut out boots from Chockers as a go-to choice for summer. My ankles can stay a bit cooler while out walking and this low heel is an undeniably practical compromise between a flat boot and a proper heel. I'm probably going to wear them with socks. Socks and boots rock.
