The dank and the gloom

not all doom and gloom in the countryside
As a filler for the wild and woolly days, the crisp days of ice and snow then the mysterious mists we have to suffer the general days of dank and gloom where nothing of great note is to be felt. Leaves once bright and freshly shed now lay in dank rafts turning to gloop in shades of brown.  My attempts to spy fungi are becoming less fruitful, we suspect they don't like to grow in these cool conditions with maybe the exception of the wedge ones on trees.

Dewy-webby goodness. Not much of it to be seen in the low light.

A leftover crab apple. The larger variety which are (apparently) the poorest variety. Possibly better called the crap apple. Bless.

There's just so little colour to be seen... The monochrome landscape is so empty and stark.

Drips and droops.

The odd few vibrant reds left on the landscape belong to the brambles, yes the brambles are getting my love at the moment.

More of that pink berry I saw last week. I must get better at remembering what these things are!

So it's all not doom and gloom (although it is mostly).
