A feather. Listening to someone talk on TV a while ago, they said that they believed that angels were a part of their life. Seeing a lone white feather float down from the sky was a little reminder that they were being watched over.
While I consider that to be a rather far-fetched likelihood, I must concede that the feeling of being cared for and looked after is a warming one indeed. To feel like you are in safe hands. To be loved.
