The dawn of a new year
Friday, January 08, 2016
The first dawn of the new year was a little milestone. I couldn't resist heading outside with my camera after rolling out of bed; throwing on a coat and yanking on a pair of boots... creeping around in the low morning light to see what the year was offering up. It was cold in the frost, a light crispy edge to every surface but undeniable nevertheless. The birds sang a gentle song and broke the silence of the uninhabited hour. I wonder whether I was alone in bearing witness to the sunrise that morning with the pigeons and blackbirds.
The lawn looks rather mossy with it's spongy carpet betrayed by obvious wheel ruts where the mower ran through a few weeks ago. The rest of the garden is not far off fine, for the time being at least. This year I want to keep the garden in a much neater manner, so that I can look out and smile every time and not just on the rare occasion everything has been tidied at once. But on the first of the first, it looks good to me.

What a lovely way to start and document the beginning of a new year.
ReplyDeleteThere is something so lovely about a well tended garden, I try to keep on top of ours but struggle most of the time. It's a nice resolution to make though.
I love to hear your comments xx
