Considering the descent we had undertaken, I was mindful of making the most of our time in the valley so of course we took the path along the river towards Abercraf. The sun soon came out, although the canopy kept us mainly in the shade and made the landscape really glow. In contrast to the flat landscape of Norfolk the delights of water flowing from the rocks made for a beautiful backdroop to our riverside amble.





The information board compared the landscape to the Amazon basin; while I can't say I've been trekking in the Amazon I can confirm that once the sun started beating down I saw fit to remove my coat, scarf and jumper. This thick shirt is a go-to piece for holidays and I did wear-wash cycle so it got a lot of outings. I didn't bust the knee of my favourite jeans, they've been wearing thin for such a long time. On closer inspection, they're being retired due to imminent risk of splitting at the crotch.

The path carried on up to a road (and beyond) but we u-turned after about a mile or two and headed back. I very nearly slipped over badly on a large stretch of flat rock before the walkway as we were waiting for some people to pass ahead and with a small step I found myself on my palms with my backside only an inch or two from the deck and feeling like a prize idiot (but thankfully an idiot with a dry bottom and without a bruised coxis).
A walk well worth taking. We really enjoyed our couple of hours here. Mostly very quiet too.

Now, you may not have noticed but I sneaked away for a fortnight and arrived home yesterday. It does the soul good to escape in it's entirety to a new landscape and new skies. Our destinations were the Brecon Beacons in Wales and Devon. I drank coffees to the backdrop of the sun rising and munched buttery crumpets most mornings.
The mornings waking up to this view were priceless. A window from floor to hip is a tad unusual but as it was a converted barn we stayed in, who was I to protest? Sleeping with the curtains wide open with only the gentle rolling hills and grazing horses separating us from the sun rising.
It goes without saying that we went out exploring. I have so many pictures to sort through, edit and share, hopefully many will make it here over the next couple of weeks.
There will be so much to bring you in Autumn nevertheless, we'll see what makes it into each post. I've got my new season plans and aims to share soon too.

Firstly; have you ever seen anything so middle class? Someone leaving a Camembert on top of a bin. But the main point of this post. I do wonder what goes on in peoples' heads. Why would you leave a cheese (box) on top of a bin?! Why not put it IN the bin, it's clearly not full. It's closing in on being as unfathomable as people who bag up their dog's poop but leave the bag in the hedge. I saw a lady lob a bag of it over a low hedge at Sandringham Country Park once (it wasn't the Queen); we were far enough behind that she didn't notice our presence and for a moment I thought I'd holler at her for such dreadful behaviour, but words failed me and I let it go. It still bothers me that I didn't challenge her malpractice.
Littering. Of wrappers. Also baffling. On what planet has it ever been acceptable to chuck a half eaten takeaway out of a car window? Its disgraceful. Fly tipping has to be the worst; people just dumping sofas, fridges and whole loads of rubbish by the roadside. I just can't understand how people can sleep at night.
Put things in the bin, take loads to the tip or rent a skip. It's that simple.

A belt is virtually a necessity when a dress has belt loops (and unfortunately this one does) which is a bit of a shame as I like how it hangs on it's own. Lovely to find a white dress which isn't sheer for a change.  The neckline meets very much with my satisfaction, as does the hem. A dress with room to manoeuvre inside is fine by me.

 I was queried recently on precisely what ankle boots could be worn with. The answer, dear friends, is nigh on everything. Dresses, yes, most certainly.
The unusual gathering to the neck is a pleasant variation to the norm.
