A weekend in Peterborough
Sunday, October 20, 2013The last weekend of September we spent a couple of nights away near Peterborough and I've finally put together a post of some of the pictures I took.
The hotel was Orton Hall Hotel & Spa which we used deals vouchers to subsidise (otherwise it would have been mega expensive). It was a really lovely place, our room was very neat, the breakfast was a delight and the grounds were heavenly, I took some amazingly autumnal pictures here and got some outfit pictures here.
We went out for an Indian on Friday night at the Banyan Tree which was quiet, but I thoroughly enjoyed the food.
On Saturday we ventured into Peterborough city centre and I was surprised how pleasant it was, the weather definitely helped, there was a lively buzz. We dropped in to the Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery which was first class but seemingly not visited by many people. It was free entry there were modern interesting displays plus a particularly friendly art curator who gave us some fascinating background knowledge, I love when you get a proper insight into something.
The cathedral was also free entry and such an impressive structure with so much to look at.
I couldn’t not look at the charity shops and although I didn’t make any purchases my personal favourite was the Sue Ryder Vintage and Retro Shop with a bounty of treasures. Saturday night we went for a Chinese at the Royal China.
On the Sunday we popped over the road to Nene Park for a wander by the lakes. . We later went to Flag Fen which I think is now closed for the winter season.
All in all it was a super fun relaxing weekend!
