Cuckooflowers and the meadows

Meadows boasting delicate blossoms of cuckooflowers (yes I had to look it up).
Everywhere I look the carpet of ground ivy unfurls. The dainty blue flowers belie the ravenous hunger the plant has to reach out further, to take over more land, to infiltrate grasses and to reign.
All the things I haven't seen just inspire me to hunt them out.
What are you keen to see?

I have started to look out for nature and green spaces in the city. It's so easy to assume it isn't there but we have a bluebell wood and some rare birds near us.
ReplyDeleteI'm the only person who seems to call them by their other name of "Lady's Smock"
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos here Sophie, and cuckoo flowers/lady's smock are one of my favourites to spit while out and about, they're so pretty and dainty! Your blog always makes me feel calm again, especially these nature shots you've been posting recently, so thank you for that moment of stillness my day often needs! - Tasha
