Up to the gills

No fungi were harmed in the making of this post. I suspect squirrels, dogs or naughty children are to fault for the upended ones. Much as I like to find mushrooms intact, there's a pleasing opportunity to study the underside one they have been knocked over. I've not looked up each specimen as my book has so many in, that it takes forever and I end up with a shortlist of about 10 possibilities for most. I'm pretty sure the red speckled ones are fly ageric.
This puffball was enormous!!!! Thank goodness I didn't step on it by accident or it would have made a dreadful mess.
I do have a large amount of fungi pictures so more to come soon.
Take care,
Sophie
A lovely little stump has been smothered in fungi, possibly a kind of bracket!
