Shrug it off

Hello everyone, welcome to the start of a wonderful new week. I'm kicking things off with an attitude of 'can do', 'will do' and 'it'll have to to'. Weekends recently have felt productive; I say recently, I mean the last couple of years really. An early morning followed by plenty of things ticked off lists feels immensely satisfying, especially if it culminates in the holy grail of getting things tidy afterwards.
A scroll through my social media timelines can instantly leave me feeling distinctly second rate. Not only do I not have perfectly composed photos, but my likes are minimal and engagement is low. I feel inadequate. But let's be rational, put things into perspective. Am I a model? Nope. Do I spend my life styling my house and garden? Nope. Do I spend hours perfecting photographs, editing and applying perfect filters with deep captions with all the best hashtags? Nope. So what. I spent 126 seconds getting these pictures and even liked a few. I'm never going to be the girl who spends half a day with a pro tog getting a portfolio to last a month full of outfits I only ever wore for the camera. High five to those girls (though I can't reach that high with six foot models) but that's never going to be something I want to do.
It's a welcome return to active duty for these boots although I recall that I swore I'd get them re-soled at the cobbler's before they get worn again as a large split to the sole will mean any meagre puddle will soak my tootsie within seconds. They were a charity shop buy years ago and despite them being worn in, they're marvelous boots and deserve a little love to get them back on form.
Hello autumn shades!
Shirts and skirts are my winter staples so they are worth investing in. I bought this skirt from Joules last summer - in the sale I imagine and knew it would last as a classic forever. It's lovely quality and can be worn with plenty of other pieces plus it makes me feel comfortable too so an all-round winner. This Jack Wills shirt has a lovely softness to it. My warmth in winter remains paramount so any shirts which feel extra snug are a winner.
This week I'm going to shrug it all off.
Take care,
Sophie
