Filling my home with autumn joy

This autumn I wanted to embrace the change of season in sharp contrast to previous years. For those of you that have been reading my posts for years you will probably have picked up that I am without doubt a summer person. My mood seems to directly follow the temperature and I pretty much slump into misery as soon as autumn kicks in. This year I wanted to fight back and try to see the positives that every other blogger seemed to revel in. My aim was to put a bit of effort into making our home a bit more welcoming and cosy, inspired by Jen. We are lucky to start with in that we are able to keep our house reasonably warm, which makes such a difference.

The first thing I did was to change our reed diffusers, burners and candles for more spicy, wintery scents. I've been enjoying gingerflower & amber, mulled wine, cherry as well as most recently this sandalwood candle: Febreeze, found at Wilkinson. They have a couple more seasonal scented ones too, but I shall be buying more sandalwood ones for sure, they smell pretty lovely.

I undertook some baking to fill the kitchen with delicious smells and giving plenty of tasty treats.

Plenty of hearty comfort food has been consumed, you can't beat some steaming hot soup.

I gave my slippers, fluffy blanket and cushions a good wash to refresh them, dug out my winter socks and rearranged my wardrobe so all my winter favourites are on hand. Lastly, I bought some soft glow yellow fairy lights for our bedroom, this has been the best idea and has really made me smile when I wake up and pop them on.

What is making you smile this autumn?
