My current reading list

Remember I resolved to make time to read regularly? I've been sticking to it. The book I started off the year with was a Goodreads choice 'The light between oceans' by M L Stedman. An enjoyable read which took me just over a month to finish. I liked the way I didn't know where the story was heading, it was a book I was absorbed reading but it just took quite a few bursts. That reminds me, I must get back up to speed with my Goodreads account so I can keep a better record of what I've read.
We snuck away for a weekend in a cosy cottage the other weekend so I made sure I took a contingency supply of books in case of inclement weather (it did rain a lot). My plan for a good weekend of relaxation and indulging in all things selfish included catching up on correspondence. I've got some wonderful penpals and I find it such a joy to write back on pretty paper, penning my thoughts and news. Something to look forward to, with the domino effect of receiving a reply in due course.
My next choice was another Goodreads highly rated book called 'And the mountains echoed' by Khaled Hosseini. I'm just over halfway through and I'm thoroughly enjoying it which is just as well because C bought me two more titles by the author. My third choice that C bought me for Christmas was 'Where we belong' by Emily Giffin and that's the next one I'll be picking up. Mum has taken up reading recently. She'd never picked up a book in all the years I can remember, bar children's stories to read me and my brother, but in the last year has suddenly reformed into quite the bookworm, which is lovely and she's passing on the better reads to me. 'Fruit of the lemon' by Andrea Levy is one of her recommendations.
Books are best read in front of a fire, under a blanket.
