It's a travesty that the name of such a magnificent spring flowering tree has become the name for the dreariest wall colour known to human kind. Magnolia flowers are utterly gorgeous and it's a pleasure to spy one in bloom. Such a variety of colours and styles of flower, something for everyone. We did have a tiddler in a pot but it appeared to have diseased and died which was very sad.
I haven't got as many shots of magnolias in bloom this spring as I would like as they do tend to be in gardens and I find it grossly intrusive to photograph other peoples' gardens.
This beautiful tree was hanging over a path and didn't entail snapping someone elses' property so I took a couple of pictures on my phone.
Do you look forward to magnolias in bloom too?
Take care,

  1. We were discussing this very topic last week . I said "Why is magnolia paint a dull cream cokour when all the trees are glorious shades of pink?" Then we saw a magnolia tree which DID have cream blossoms. I think it is to do with the Victorian Plant collectors- the original 'classic' magnolias brought back from the East were all cream. They gave the paint colour its name. Other coloured were developed later.

  2. I love magnolias! Strangely I'd never made the connection between them and the paint, they seem so far removed from one and other.
I have a plan to plant one in place of a big honeysuckle what Andy would like to remove, it's a compromise!
    Thanks for sharing.

  3. I never thought to make that connection, as Hazel above! They are so different! I LOVE seeeing Magnolia trees. I miss the one we used to have in our old park!
